Tongkat Ali Information

Tongkat Ali Review and Facts

Tongkat Ali is a rare herb that only grows in some Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, and the tropical rainforests of Indonesia. In Malaysia, it is now an endangered species protected by the government and illegal to harvest. Indonesia is now the only country that supplies true wild potent Tongkat Ali legally.
The herb derives its name from a Malaysian phrase, which means `Ali’s walking stick’. The name is descriptive of its tall and thin trunk, long and deep protruding root and its ability to enhance sexual performance. Scientifically, the plant is known as Eurycoma longifolia Jack.
The tree takes between 10 and 25 years to mature and attains a length of up to 15m upon full maturity.

Tongkat Ali Properties

Research results show that the plant parts contain chemicals that have an effect on the human body. Such chemicals include beta-carboline alkaloids, quassinoid glycosides, pasakbumin-B, eurycolactone, eurycomaoside, eurycomalactone and eurycomanone among others.

These active ingredients influence the production of testosterone and give the herb its many other medicinal benefits such as anti-malaria, anti-cancer and anti-oxidant properties.

The native communities used and use it for its antibacterial, aphrodisiac, and ulcer prevention properties. They used it in the treatment of diarrhoea, ulcers, boils, malaria, tuberculosis, dysentery, fever and jaundice. Modern science has confirmed most of these benefits of Tongkat Ali are real. Today, the herb is sold as an extract or supplement in capsule form for the purpose of boosting sexual libido, promoting muscle gain and fat burning. It is also available in powder form or combined with other herbs in libido enhancing products.
